12/10/12 NIPSCO has a program called “Energizing Indiana” to help teach individuals how they can cut energy costs.  Last year was Triton Elementary School’s first year participating in this energy awareness school program.

Triton Elementary fifth grades began the program last week for the current school year.  NIPSCO supplies every 5th grade child with a “kit” that includes 6 CFL light bulbs, an energy saving night light, a thermometer to check their water heater and refrigerator temperature, a kitchen faucet aerator, a furnace filter alarm, and a high-efficiency showerhead.  The program teaches students about where our energy comes from and how to conserve energy. Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate and bracelet. Each 5th grade teacher receives a $50 grant to use in her classroom. Triton fifth grade loves the program!
