12/13/12  Representative-Elect Jackie Walorski (IN-02) Wednesday announced her appointment to the House Armed Services Committee for the 113th Congress.

“It’s a privilege to be appointed to such a prestigious committee, and I’m confident it will largely benefit Hoosiers in the Second District,” said Walorski.

House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Chairman, Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, welcomed the new and returning majority members from Washington.  McKeon stated, “I am honored to have Representative Walorski join the House Armed Services Committee.  As the only member of the Indiana delegation on the Committee, she will be an effective voice for all Hoosiers in uniform.”

House Committees are assigned to determine specific policy needs, in addition to conducting hearings, and considering bills to benefit their designated responsibility.  Walorski is one of six new members appointed to the House Armed Services Committee for the 113th Congress.

“The Second District is home to a wide spectrum of prevalent military institutions and defense contracting that is vital to our nation’s defense and continued security,” said Walorski. “Ranging from the pivotal services of Grissom Air Reserve Base to the robust operations of AM General, it is clear that our district is an integral part of our Armed Forces.”

Indiana is also home to one of the nation’s largest National Guards, comprised of both Army and Air National Guard components.  Other committee assignments are anticipated over the next few weeks.
