12/26/12 Congresswoman-Elect Jackie Walorski (IN-02) has been appointed to serve on the House Budget Committee in the 113th Congress.  This selection marks her third committee assignment for the freshman representative, who will also serve on the House Armed Services and Veterans’ Affairs Committees.

“I’m grateful to join the House Budget Committee, and welcome the opportunity to work together with my colleagues to pass a responsible budget that will reduce our nation’s debt and improve the economy,” said Walorski.

Walorski comes to the committee with a strong background in fiscal responsibility.  While serving in the State House, she was part of the team of legislators who passed important reforms to cut spending and stimulate economic development, turning the state’s deficit into a surplus.

“I am pleased to welcome Congresswoman-elect Jackie Walorski to the House Budget Committee,” said House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan. “Jackie’s experience in the Indiana General Assembly, where she helped turn a deficit into a surplus, will be invaluable to the committee as we tackle our nation’s economic and fiscal challenges.”

Walorski will be sworn in on January 3rd in Washington D.C. to serve her first term in for the Indiana’s Second Congressional District.
