08/31/12 Plymouth Speedway is the place to be during your Labor Day weekend. While you’re out stuffing yourself full of delicious blue goodness at the Marshall County Blueberry Festival Friday through Monday, come over to the track for some great dirt racing at the Bullring, with even more surface area as 25 feet more of clay was added for this race.
The Plymouth Speedway will host the last race of the 2012 season: The Earl Gearte Classic Saturday night. Opening ceremonies begin at 7, with heats to begin around 7:15 p.m.
Track owner Ed Kennedy said, “Earl Gearte was one of the best engine builders in the country, and we are honored that his son Joe has chosen Plymouth to have his dad’s race.”
Joe Gearte said he has more than $6,000 worth of contingency for the Classic, where Wing 410 Sprints and 600 Wing Mini Sprints will battle in the Bullring.
Fans will be in for another special treat as Eric Saunders, who was paralyzed two years ago in a motocross accident, will again be racing his Tony Stewart Racing 600 Mini Sprint Saturday.
Also Ed Kennedy will be making the announcement that the Speedway will be running on Saturday nights in 2013. But will it be Dirt or Asphalt?? He will be letting you know.
Tickets are $30 for pits, $15 adults, kids 6-12 are $5 and 5 and under are free with an adult purchase.
