Lake Maxinkuckee to Host Indiana’s 1st NAIFC State Championship Ice Fishing Tournament

February 7, 2013

02/08/13 Culver will hold Indiana’s first annual NAIFC (North American Ice Fishing Circuit) State Championship on Lake Maxinkuckee, February 8-10, 2013.  Teams finishing in the top-10 at the Culver Qualifier automatically advance to the NAIFC North American Championship on Mille Lacs Lake, Isle Minnesota in December 2013.

The Culver Qualifying Tournament is open to the first 150 two- person teams that enter.  NAIFC tournaments operate much like a Bassmaster or FLW event.  Fishing boundaries are set: teams drill their own holes. Portable fish shelters are allowed with walking, ATVs and snowmobiles the modes of transportation. Tournament’s fishing hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday February 10th and the species will be Bluegills and Perch.  Local fishermen should take note that it has been “Locals” not traveling teams winning 10 out of the last 11 NAIFC Qualifying tournaments.

Since its inception, the NAIFC series has been the testing grounds for new equipment and fishing technique.  To be a part of that cutting edge, attend the NAIFC Friday Night Seminar (FNS) February 8th, held at Lake House Grill in Culver.  The seminar is free to everyone.  There is no faster way for any fishermen… experienced or not… to learn and share the successful details of ice fishing than NAIFC free Friday Night Seminars.

Providing the Nation’s leading Ice Fishing education the NAIFC will conduct on Saturday, February 9th a “free” Cabela’s Ice Camp for Kids.  All kids in attendance will receive a free fishing rod from HT Enterprises.  Ice safety, equipment, bait and fishing techniques will be presented to the kids and their parents.
