Hacienda Rumor More Than a Rumor

February 5, 2013

02/06/13 Anyone in the mood for chips and salsa from Hacienda? Well, it’s looking like you won’t have to drive to South Bend or Warsaw in the near future.

Last Friday rumors started circulating around town that Hacienda had filed for an alcohol permit for Plymouth.  According to local Alcohol Board member, Maria Keller and Alcohol & Tobacco Commission Processor, Doug Devine, nothing is in their system as of the close of business on Tuesday.  That being said, WTCA did received a fax from Jeff Leslie, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hacienda Tuesday morning confirming interest in Plymouth.

The fax said, “The wonderful residents of Plymouth have been after us for years to open a Hacienda there.  We think the time is right.  But, we don’t have a deal done yet, so that’s about all I can say.”  Hacienda currently has 18 locations in northern Indiana.

Speaking with Dave Miller of Vanco Development Tuesday morning, Miller said he could not comment specifically on Hacienda but did say they were negotiating with a couple of possible tenants with one being a restaurant in Pine Creek Plaza.  He said once an agreement was signed, which he thought could happen in the very near future, then he would be able to comment.

Plymouth Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds did confirm that he has been contacted by a sign company who was seeking information on the city’s ordinances on zoning and signage for Hacienda.
