05/08/13 The Plymouth School Board voted unanimously on Tuesday, May 7 in approval of summer maintenance projects. Maintenance Director, Dave Schoof, presented a list of projects with costs that total $585,369.49. Much of the cost of the projects will come from a refunding bond.
The renovations at Lincoln Junior High and Riverside Intermediate to accommodate the new Innovation Academy are possible due to the refinancing of the bonds. The Media Centers at both buildings are being converted into space for project-based learning.
Necessary improvements at the Service Center include, but are not limited to, upgrading exterior lighting for security and the installation of a new 480V 3-phase electrical service to power a new manufacturing lab. Schoof said they must upgrade restrooms to meet ADA requirements and install a fire alarm system. Schoof presented conceptual drawings of the proposed lab that shows the intent to have an open concept arrangement that is flexible and adaptive to business and industry. The cost of the work at the Service Center is listed at $262,500.
Gym floor maintenance will be performed at Menominee Elementary, Washington Academy, Plymouth High School and Riverside Intermediate.
Plymouth High School must also have ADA signage upgrades to be in compliance.
A number of other projects were also presented.
