06/07/13 On Wednesday, June 5th at 5:04 P.M. Marshall County Deputy Les McFarland responded to a two vehicle accident at US 31 and 5A Road.
A 2000 Chevy Van driver by 46 year old Alberta W. Wilcox of Winamac was crossing US 31 to enter 5A Road and failed to yield to the southbound traffic on US 31. Mr Wilcox explained that he did not see the oncoming traffic.
Wilcox pulled into the path of a 2002 Chevy SUV driven by 48 year old David B. Shireman of South Bend who was southbound on US 31.
After the impact both vehicles came to rest at the southwest corner of US 31 and 5A Road. Both drivers refused medical treatment.
