’09 CMA Grad to March in Inaugural Parade

January 18, 2013

01/21/13  Jan Garrison, Assistant Director of Publications for the Culver Academies found an interesting tidbit that ties CMA to West Point and the Presidential Inaugural Parade on Monday.

Another Culver Academies graduate, Tommy Ott ’09 will be one of the 90 U.S. Military Academy cadets marching in the parade. The cadets were chosen by a team of evaluators based on their marching prowess and military bearing.

The cadets will be wearing the uniforms that honor the victorious American soldiers who wore gray at the Battle of Chippewa in the War of 1812. The distinctive uniform is recognized throughout the world and has earned the Corps of Cadets the famous title “The Long Gray Line.”

Eighty-two members of the Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes will be riding in the parade on Monday afternoon. This marks the 100th anniversary of the Black Horse Troop’s first appearance in the Woodrow Wilson-Thomas Marshall Inaugural Parade of 1913. The parade starts at 2:30 p.m. EST and will be covered in its entirety on C-SPAN.
