06/25/13  On Friday, June 19th at approximately 8:20 P.M. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies Matthew Brown assisted by Ryan Hollopeter and Larry Snyder responded to a one vehicle accident on Pretty Lake Trail.

Arriving on the scene officers learned that the driver of the green, 1997 Mercury, 21 year old Nicholas R. Kelly of Plymouth was traveling east on Pretty Lake Trail west of Dogwood.  Kelly lost control of the vehicle coming around the curve and left the roadway on the south side striking a utility pole with the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The utility pole was snapped in half coming to rest across the road with the power lines still attached.  The skid marks on the roadway and the wet pavement made it appeared that the vehicle was traveling at a much higher rate of speed then the posted for 30 mph.  Kelly stated that he was traveling 45 mph when he lost control of the vehicle and spun out causing him to hit the utility pole.

Both the driver and a passenger in the vehicle were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment of the injuries sustained in the accident.  The other two passengers in the vehicle were not injured.
