Coats being Collected for Warm Up Marshall County

October 4, 2013

10/07/13  The cold winter weather will quickly be knocking on our door and Warm Up Marshall County is getting ready to kick off its15th year eagerly ready to start collecting coats.

Warm Up Marshall County was started when Steve Keiser and his daughter saw a young child walking to school in the bitter cold without a jacket.  Keiser approached his boss at Oliver Ford and asked if they could do something to help and the Warm Up Marshall County coat drive was born.

Warm Up Marshall County is a winter coat drive for infants, children, men and women.  New and gently used coats are now being collected.  Check around your house and see if you and your family have any coats that you no longer wear or fit into. If it has a tear or needs a zipper, no need to worry, Ziker’s Cleaners will make the necessary repairs and get them cleaned for distribution.

Collection sites this year will be at the WTCA Radio Station at 112 West Washington Street and Oliver Ford Lincoln on East Jefferson Street from now until Saturday, November 16th.

Coat distribution will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 10 a.m. till noon and Sunday, November 24th from noon till 2.  Distribution will be at the National Guard Armory at on Madison Street in Plymouth.

To select a coat there are no requirements for proof of need, but because of the demand, there will be a limit on the number of coats to one coat per person present the days of distribution.  If you have several children in need please have them in attendance so that a good fit can be guaranteed.
