01/18/13  On Wednesday, January 16th at approximately 5:47 PM, the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a call of a two vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Michigan Road and 4th Road.

Deputy Kerry Brouyette responded to the collision and began an investiagation.  56 year old Kevin Fleck Sr. of LaPaz was driving a 2002 Ford passenger vehicle, traveling eastbound on 4th Road and had come to a stop at the stop sign at the intersection.  Fleck told the officer he did not see any vehicles on Michigan Road and proceed into the intersection.

  A 1995 Chevy truck driven by 23 year old Brandon Heston of Plymouth was traveling southbound on Michigan Road coming up to the intersection and observed Mr. Fleck pulling out onto Michigan Road.   Heston applied his brakes in attempt to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.

The LaPaz Fire Department responded to the accident and had to extricate Mr. Fleck out of the vehicle.  Mr. Fleck and his passenger, Pamela Fleck both sustained injuries as a result of the accident and were transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

  Lyons Wrecker Service was called to removal both vehicles due to the substantial amount of damage to them. Assisting agencies were the LaPaz Fire Department, LaPaz EMS and the Indiana State Police.
