10/01/13 On Saturday, September 28th at approximately 3:00 a.m. Plymouth Police were dispatched to an apartment building in the 100 block of West LaPorte Street in reference to a male subject that had forced his way into the apartment. The caller indicated that the male had a large knife and was intoxicated. After battering a female in the apartment, the suspect damaged a large screen TV and exited.
The male suspect whose residence was listed in the same apartment building in the 100 block of West LaPorte Street was identified as a 17 year juvenile. He was located in his apartment and found to be extremely intoxicated. He was transported to the Plymouth Police Department where he tested positive for alcohol. As a result of the alcohol test police called a parent and the juvenile probation department. The teen was released to the custody of his parent.
A few hours later at approximately 6:00 a.m. officers were dispatched back to the 100 block of West LaPorte Street by the County’s 9-1-1 dispatch center. The mother of the juvenile told officers that she had been battered by her son and that he had knives and a gun.
The teen had threatened to harm his mother and law enforcement and fled the apartment. He was located and taken into custody at Garro and Michigan Street and transported to the Plymouth Police Department.
After speaking with the Marshall County Probation Department and the Prosecutor’s Office the male juvenile was transported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department where he is being held on possible adult charges of Burglary with a Deadly Weapon, Strangulation, Battery, Public Intoxication and Minor Consuming with his bond set at $10,005 cash.
