12/17/13 On Thursday, December 12th at approximately 11:40 p.m. a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation on US 31 near the intersection of 2C Road. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the passenger, 36 year old Justin Gamble of South Bend and the driver, 20 year old Christian Gamble of South Bend were in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. It was also determined that the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Both subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail where Christian Gamble was lodged for possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person and operating a vehicle while intoxicated under a controlled substance. Justin Gamble was lodged for possession of marijuana. Both subjects were booked in on $1,500 cash bonds. Marshall County Police were assisted by the Indiana State Police.
On Saturday, December 14th at approximately 8:30 p.m. Marshall County Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a physical domestic fight at the West Shore Apartments at Lake of the Woods. Marshall County Police, Bremen Police and Indiana State Police officers responded to the scene. As officers arrived at the scene, 33 year old Phillip L. Corburn of Bremen was located and arrested for domestic battery. Corburn was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a $755 bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
