06/20/13 A little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of golfers participating the Ancilla College Golf Classic at the Plymouth Country Club June 10th.

A brief downpour interrupted play for about 15 minutes during the college’s fundraising golf outing but, “no one really seemed to mind and we had a great time,” said Alumni Relations director Tom Sibal.

The annual event was the scene of a hole-in-one and several different fundraising events like putting contests, a golf ball drop and closest to the pin contests sponsored by businesses throughout northern Indiana. The scramble combined scores from players on each team with Kankakee Valley Steel winning with an 18-hole round of 53.

“I am continually amazed at the generosity of the people in Marshall and the surrounding counties.  We work hard at Ancilla to put on the best golf outing in the area and it would not be possible if it were not for the generous donations of money and other gifts to Ancilla,” Sibal said.

“We were sold out of the 5th year in a row,” Sibal said. “The registration and event fees all go toward Ancilla College scholarship and academic funding. This year we netted over $24,000 in support of the college.”
