04/03/13 Tuesday night the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission held a special meeting to open bids for phase one of the River Park Square Project.  Only two companies submitted bids for the project E & B Paving Incorporated out of Rochester and Michiana Contracting Inc. from Plymouth. 

City Attorney Sean Surrisi opened the bids for commission members.  The base bid from E & B Paving was $1,766,515 while Michiana Contracting submitted a base bid of $1,325,270.19.

There are four alternate for this project.  Alternate number one adds on all the work associated with the performance structure area.  This includes the concrete paving, steps, seat walls, performance structure, and associated elements.  E & B Paving bid $228,315 while Michiana Contracting bid $224,962.

Alternate number two is the Farmers’ Market Fountain Plaza.  This includes the pavers, benches and pads, fountain, and associated elements.  E & B bid $43,070 and Michiana Contracting bid $42,760.

Alternate number three if the Farmers, Market Pergola Plaza and includes pavers, benches and pads, tables and chairs, pergola structure and associated elements.  E & B Paving bid $35,795 while Michiana Contracting had a bid of $49,175.

The final alternate is a deduct bid and will remove the furnace system from the base bid scope of work including all ductwork, grilles, and temperature controls.  The furnace system would then be installed by others in the future.  E & B Paving submitted a deduct bid of $22,850 while Michiana Contracting submitted a deduct bid of $8,600. 

The bids were taken under-advisement and will be awarded at the regular meeting of the Redevelopment Commission later this month.  A committee made up of members of the Park Board, Redevelopment Commission and city will review the bids and make a recommendation to the Commission at their April 16th meeting.

Estimated cost for the entire project including the demolition of the three structures was $1.6 million.  There is currently $1,577,845 in the construction line item for the project.
