Bill Ellinger Appointed to Redevelopment Commission

October 31, 2013

11/01/13 Members of the Plymouth Common Council had to appoint a member to the Redevelopment Commission during their meeting this week.  The appointment was necessary to replace Don Wendel who had to resign his position since he has recently moved outside of the city limits.

Three citizens tossed their hats into the ring for the position; attorney Jeff Houin, retired construction worker Bill Ellinger and former school board member Frank Brubaker.

Council president Mike Delp asked to nominations from the council.  Both Bill Ellinger and Frank Brubaker were nominated.  In a voice vote of 3 to 2 Bill Ellinger was appointed to the position.

Under new business Councilman Mike Delp expressed his concern with a house at 607 South Michigan Street that has extremely long grass. The grass is between 8 and 10 inches long and some weeds are as high as 24 inches.

Although the city has an ordinance for weeds there is no ordinance for the height of grass.  Delp suggested the city council consider establishing a height restriction on grass.

Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds said the owner of the property, Lois and Michael Romano live in Chicago and no one has lived in the house for several months.

Delp said a constituent has asked him to have the property mowed.  The city will take the necessary action to get the residential property cleaned up.
