12/31/13  On Thursday, December 29th, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received information of an unwanted guest at a residence on 8C Road.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Officers; Jordan Rans and Les McFarland responded to the residence. While deputies were en route to the location information was obtained that the unwanted subject was intoxicated and had left the residence driving a red, Chevy pickup truck.  Deputies located the subject’s truck which was off of the roadway at 9 B Road and Hawthorn and appeared to be stuck.  50 year old Larry Thompson of Bourbon was found hiding in the cornfield.  Thompson was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication and held on a $1,505 bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
