03/12/13 The first handwritten, hand-illuminated Bible in 500 years was commissioned in 1998 to renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson. A team of artists and scholars combined the ancient techniques of calligraphy and illumination with an ecumenical Christian approach to the Bible rooted in Benedictine spirituality. Jason Engel, Saint John representative, will make two presentations on March 18 at The Center At Donaldson, also known as the PHJC Ministry Center, and sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. Engel will share the story behind this monumental undertaking and its stunning artwork. Participants of all ages are welcome at 3:00 p.m. ET in the Catherine Kasper Home (Kasper Room) or at 6:45 p.m. ET in Ancilla College C231. Come and be inspired by this introduction to the Saint John’s Bible. Refreshments will be served.
