PLYMOUTH, IN – Ancilla golf ended their fall season on a positive note at the NJCAA National Preview Event, scoring higher than previous years as they tied for sixth place out of the eight teams in the competition. 

The event held at Swan Lake, where par is 72, featured a practice round on Thursday, 36 holes on Friday, and 18 holes Saturday. After three rounds, The Express of Owens Community College clinched first place with a team score of 881 and Grand Rapids Community College came in second with 892. At 909, third place went to Rend Lake College while Parkland College placed fourth with 912. Mott College had a team total of 966, putting them at fifth. Tying at sixth with 967 were Ancilla College and Clarendon College.  Rounding out eighth place with 969 was Muskegon Community College. Despite his team finishing sixth, Charger golfer, Eric Davis finished in the top ten with a score of 224.

“Chad Hutsell, PGA Pro at Swan Lake, and his staff did a wonderful job administrating this tournament. The course was in great shape and the weather was wonderful,” praised Ancilla coach Marc Hayden. He further complimented his team, “Our guys battled both days. This was a good mental toughness test for them and I was pleased overall with our results. Eric [Davis] individually finished in the top ten of this great field, which was a huge accomplishment. I was very happy for him.”

The Chargers will not resume play again until April 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. when they host the Ancilla College Invitational at Swan Lake in Plymouth, IN.
