03/13/13 The City of Plymouth assisted by RATIO Architects, Inc. will hold a public open house on Thursday, March 14th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm to gather further input for the update to the City’s 2003 Comprehensive Plan. The open house will take place at the Marshall County Museum Historic Crossroads Center, 123 North Michigan Street in Plymouth.

Residents, business owners, and anyone interested in contributing to the future vision for Plymouth are encouraged to participate. Refreshments will be available, and families are welcome.

The open house will be informal and attendees will be able to review the current draft of the Comprehensive Plan update.  That draft has been developed over the last several months by RATIO’s planners, Jackie Turner and Aaron Kowalski, with the work of a Steering Committee of eighteen people from the Plymouth community. The project team will be available at the open house to answer your questions, discuss opportunities, or hear your comments regarding the community’s long-term vision for development and enhancement of the quality of life.

Results generated from the open house will aid the project team in finalizing the update to the Comprehensive Plan. A comprehensive plan includes goals, policies and recommendations for growth and development to assist community decision makers. Policies may cover a variety of topics including land use, utilities, redevelopment, transportation, parks and recreation, sustainability and economic development.

The new Plan, which is scheduled for final approval by the Plymouth Plan Commission and City Council in April, will ensure that future growth, development, and redevelopment are in line with community values and the City’s collective vision for the future, as well as enhance the community’s eligibility for grant funding.

Community members not able to attend the open house can visit the project’s website at www.CommunityCollaborate.com .  Open house results, surveys, and a draft of the plan will be posted to this site throughout the course of the project.
