01/29/13 Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) today joined an estimated 3,000 volunteers at the annual Food Drop to pack and distribute food boxes for area families in need.  Through a partnership of churches including Granger Community College, South Gate Church, and Waypoint Church, volunteers loaded groceries into trucks, delivering over 8,000 boxes to local food pantries.

“There is no greater aspect of public service than participating in events like the Food Drop.  This effort epitomizes the compassion of our Hoosier communities, inspiring us all to do what we can to help those in need,” said Walorski.

Before the event started, Walorski briefly addressed the volunteers to express her gratitude for their efforts and hard work.  Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) was also in attendance.

The Food Drop is part of the Granger Community Church’s 2012 Christmas Offering, normally done in the winters months when food pantries are most in need.  Volunteers gathered at five different locations across the Second District, hoping to distribute a record amount of goods to area families.
