11/20/13 Emily Howard, Communications Specialist with the Marshall County REMC has announced acceptance for the 2015 Annual Calendar Art Contest.

Marshall County students are encouraged to enter the art contest with entries until March 21, 2014.

The contest provides young Hoosier artists a unique opportunity to develop and showcase their talent. Electric Consumer-the statewide publication for Indiana’s electric cooperatives-sponsors the program, which is open to all students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.

Students are invited to submit original artwork reflective of the calendar month for which their grade is selected. Those winners then represent the specific month in the “2015 Cooperative Calendar of Student Art.” Nine honorable mention winners are also included in a special section of the calendar.

Not only will the contest winners have their artwork published in the calendar, which is viewed by thousands of electric cooperative members across the state, they and their winning pieces will be honored at a special reception through a partnership with the Hoosier Salon.

The Hoosier Salon, headquartered in Indianapolis, is a statewide nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to create an appreciation of visual art by promoting Hoosier artists and their art. In addition, the students’ artwork will tour the Hoosier Salon’s galleries in Indianapolis, New Harmony and Wabash.

Details, tips, and an entry form for the 2015 Calendar Art Contest can be found on the Electric Consumer website at www.electricconsumer.org or call the Marshall County REMC office at 574-936-3161.
