04/10/13 Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger released the preliminary autopsy results for two recent cases in Marshall County. Cleavenger and Deputy Coroner Lisa Richards attended both autopsies today in Mishawaka conducted by Dr. Joseph Prahlow, a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist. Also in attendance was a crime scene technician from the Indiana State Police.

The first case involved 44 year old Kerry Pinder of Culver who was found unresponsive Sunday morning at the Marshall County Correctional Facility in Culver. Preliminary results showed no evidence of violence nor foul play. Pinder had a history of previous medical

Issues and there is no evidence to suggest that his incarceration was related to his death.

The second case involving the truck driver, who was found dead in his cab near Bremen after his truck veered off US 6 and down an embankment, died prior to the accident. There were no indications of trauma related to the accident according to Cleavenger.  51 year old Edward Heward of Romney, West Virginia was westbound on US 6 when he suffered a medical event and left the road. Nobody else was injured in the incident.

Toxicology results for both cases should be available by early next week, but Cleavenger said he did not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Division are still investigating the truck accident.

No further information is expected to be released pending toxicology results from both cases.
