County Expands Online Permiting

September 3, 2013
By

09/04/13 Marshall County Building Director, Chuck DeWitt announced the expansion of the Online Services System during the commissioner’s meeting Monday.

Marshall County with cooperation of the towns of Argos, Bourbon, Bremen and Culver are pleased to provide the citizens of Marshall County online access to apply for an electric permit 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  There is no need for applicants to drive to the County Building or their local jurisdiction to apply for an electric permit.  Applicants can print the electric permit and request inspection in the system.  Once the electric system has met all requirements by law, the online system will send official notification to the electric provider, plus it provides the applicant access to print the Certificate of Release.  The online system accepts payments via credit, debit cards and e-checks; applicants whom prefer to make payment by cash or check can continue to do so at the County Plan Commission and Building Department for your convenience.  Any property governed by the City of Plymouth jurisdiction, must continue to acquire an electric permit from the City of Plymouth Building Commissioner, Keith Hammonds at 936-2824.

In addition to online electric permits the citizens of Marshall County now have the availability to report environmental sanitation issues via the county’s online system.

DeWitt explained, “Time restraints for the release of the septic and building permits have been due to updating the County ordinances and signing of interlocal agreements between the County and above-mentioned jurisdictions.” Septic permits and zoning violations should be online this fall and building permits should be available in early 2014.
