03/18/13   On Wednesday, March 13th at 6:31 P.M. a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Road 17 near 15th Road for a moving violation.  During the investigation the County’s K-9, Arras performed a search of the vehicle and gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed a substance believed to be methamphetamine along with paraphernalia.  The driver of the vehicle later identified as 41 year old Dennis P. Bell of Winamac.  Bell was arrested on possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was held on a $3,005.   Bell was released the next day after posting his cash bond.

 On Thursday, March 14th Deputy Les McFarland received information that 23 year old Jonathan A. Nifong of Plymouth sold a Road Shock winch to the Pawn Shop in Knox.  The winch had been reported stolen on Friday, March 1st.
 Deputy McFarland had taken a theft report from a homeowner in the 16,000 block of Lincoln Highway that advised unknown subjects had stolen a Road Shock winch, tractor batteries and a set of jumper cables.  Marshall County deputies located Mr. Nifong at his residence in the 17,000 of Lincoln Highway and arrested him for theft as a class D felony.  Nifong was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $3,005 bond.
