10/30/13  On Saturday, October 26th just before 4 p.m. the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a call from an employee at Dollar General in LaPaz in reference to a shoplifter.  Officer Joseph Giordano responded to the location and made contact with the employee.  Following a brief investigation it was determined that 29 year old Heather M. Barts of Nappanee had stolen an item from the store and tried to leave without paying for the merchandise.  Barts was taken into custody and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.  She was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a charge of Theft and Possession With Intent to Introduce controlled substance charges and was booked on a $1,505 bond.

The Sunday afternoon at 5:45 p.m. Deputy Jonathan Bryant responded to the 800 block of Main Street in Teagarden in reference to a sex offender registry check on 58 year old Jerry D. Barbers at his residence.  Arriving at the location, Deputy Bryant located Mr. Barber who was found to have an active Felony warrant for his arrest.  He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and held for failure to appear on a felony charge and booked in to the County Jail without bond.
