01/04/13  The winter weather driving conditions the last several days has caused County Police to be very busy covering traffic accidents.

On Wednesday, December 26th at approximately 2:30 PM, Marshall County Deputy Jonathan Bryant responded to US 30 and Union Road after the report of a one vehicle accident.  The driver of a 2003 GMC, Sonoma, 21 year old, Noble Williams of North Judson told the officer he was driving east on US 30 near Union Road when a semi forced his pickup truck off the roadway.  Mr. Williams’s vehicle traveled into the median and struck several highway signs before completely crossing both west bound lanes coming to rest in a ditch on the north side.

A few hours later at 7:30 PM Deputy Bryant responded again to US 30 and Union Road in reference to another one vehicle accident.  Arriving at the scene,, 52 year old, Johnnie Santiago of Walkerton who was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger advised he was traveling north on Union Road just north of US 30 when he lost control of his vehicle.  Mr. Santiago’s vehicle went off the east side of the road where it then rolled over coming to rest upside down.  He was trapped inside the vehicle for a short time but was able to get himself out of the vehicle without injury.

On Thursday, December 27th at 8:40 AM, Deputy Bryant responded to Culver Military Academy after receiving a report of an accident.  44 year old, Raul Sanchez of North Judson was driving a 2005 Ford 500 and advised his vehicle slid into a gate and brick pillar due to the slick road conditions.  Minimal damage was done to the Academy property; however Mr. Sanchez’s vehicle sustained front end damage.

On Saturday, December 29th at 5:17 PM, Deputy Rob Hafke responded to a two vehicle accident at Michigan and 5th Roads.  On the scene it was discovered that 48 year old, Kimberly Bope of Plymouth was driving a 2012, Ford Fusion eastbound on 5th Road approaching Michigan Road when she was unable to stop due to surface conditions.  The vehicle slid into the southbound Michigan Road traffic striking a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta  driven by 29 year old, Joshua S. Walker of Tempe, Arizona.

Later that night at 9:31 PM, Deputy Hafke responded to a one vehicle accident at Michigan Road south of 6A Road.   24 year old, Jessica Tunnat of Plymouth was driving a 2006, Chevy SUV northbound on Michigan Road when she lost control of her vehicle and traveled into the ditch striking a culvert.

No injuries were reported in these accidents.
