10/23/13 Marshall County Building Commissioner, Chuck DeWitt was called Monday morning by a concerned citizen to look at the old church in Donaldson on the northwest corner where the façade fell off the bell tower over the weekend.

DeWitt said Mr. Don Brady just purchased the building and is starting repairs on trying to bring it up to current standards. The front entrance/steeple area was leaning badly at the time of purchase and needed to be repaired.

Mr. Brady began removing the brick facade this past weekend to take the weight off of it in order to straighten up the two story bell tower. He has been painstakingly removing the bricks one at a time. He has been trying to salvage as many as possible in order to reuse them once he gets the bell tower secure and rebuilt.

Mr. Brady has been using the Marshall County Historical Society to get pictures of the church in order to see what the building originally looked like. DeWitt said, “His plan is to make the old church, once again a point of pride for Donaldson.”
