Donnelly Statement on Government Shutdown

October 1, 2013

10/01/13 This evening, Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement as the House and Senate failed to reach an agreement to keep the federal government operating.

“Everyone knows Washington is broken, but too few people are talking about what that means for real people.  The economy suffers, people looking for work suffer, and countless families, business owners, and farmers simply seeking responsible behavior from the people they elected suffer.  This is unacceptable, and we must do better.”

If anybody has been watching the kabuki theater in the Senate they would note that Joe voted every time to continue funding Obamacare.

He voted to shut down the government because the House is trying to pause implementing a law that was rammed down the nations throat by a gloating Dem. majority who could have cared less about debate or compromise.

Now they refuse to pass anything, and block bipartisan negotiations. He just now voted to kill the motion to go to conference with the House.

Joe was a safe bet for Pelosi in the House and now he’s a safe vote for Reid in the Senate. Lock step party voting, let the people hang.

So, yeah, Joe, you must do better. Try representing the people of Indiana for a change.
