03/25/13 Due to automatic federal spending cuts, known as sequestration, beginning Monday, April 8, 2013, weekly payments of Federally Extended Unemployment Insurance benefits, also known as EEUC or weeks 27-63 of benefits, will be reduced by 10.7% as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor. This reduction will remain in effect each week through the end of September 2013. Regular State Unemployment Insurance benefits or weeks 1-26 will not be affected. Unemployed Hoosiers can find more information on the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s (DWD) website at www.in.gov/dwd and on Uplink ®, Indiana’s online benefit filing system. DWD urges individuals to check their Uplink ® homepage and DWD’s website regularly for any updates on this issue.
Claimants can estimate their reduced weekly benefit amount by multiplying their previous weekly benefit amount by 0.893. For example, if the normal weekly benefit amount is $275: $275 x 0.893 = $245.57. The reduced weekly benefit payment would be $245.57. The amount will always be rounded down to the next lower cent.
