04/22/13 Musician Fred Walker of Baroda, Michigan recently performed at Miller’s Senior Living Community in Plymouth.  Walker is a crowd favorite and has a unique way of preparing his program to highlight the important holidays during the month.  However even by Walker’s admission – there just wasn’t “much happening in April”.

“We have April Fool’s Day and Tax Day during April which some think may be one and the same,” exclaimed Walker.

He then broke into the song “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles”.

“We have storms in April,” Walker proclaimed.

He then sang a few weather related songs including “Pennies from Heaven”, “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain”, and “April Showers”.

The song “April Showers” led Walker to ask the crowd what springtime songs they could name.  As they named the songs, he sang them.  These included “Springtime in the Rockies”, “Let A Smile Be Your Umbrella”, “When You’re Smiling”, and “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”.

Walker concluded his program with a nice selection of gospel hymns.  The audience enjoyed hearing resident and former gospel quartet singer Jim Winengar join with Walker on his rendition of “In the Garden”.

Walker will return to the miller’s campus on Friday, July 12th.  He will appear in concert at the nursing facility at 2:15 p.m. and at the assisted living at 3:30 p.m.  Both concerts are free and open to the public.
