07/11/13 The Plymouth Fire Department was dispatched to the Baker Street construction project at 4:03p.m. Wednesday afternoon for a gas leak. The company which had just started work on the project Wednesday hit a 3 inch gas main under the roadbed causing natural gas to spew up out of a hole in the dirt.

Firefighters could hear the hissing from the gas main leak four houses away.  Property owners in the vicinity were notified of the danger but not asked to evacuate.

NIPSCO repair crews arrived on the scene at 4:47 and within minutes patched the leak.  At that point Plymouth Fire and EMS were released from the scene.
