05/07/13 Indiana Governor Mike Pence has directed that flags at state facilities across Indiana be flown at half-staff through next Saturday to honor former Governor Otis “Doc” Bowen.

Bowen died Saturday night at the Catherine Kasper Center in Donaldson. He was 95.

Governor Pence also is asking Indiana businesses and residents to lower their flags to half-staff to honor Bowen for his service to the state and the nation.

Bowen was Indiana’s Republican governor from 1973 to 1981. He also appointed Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 1985 by President Regan.
