Heminger House Could Use Help from the Community

May 17, 2013

05/20/13 Every spring the Heminger House Shelter For Women and Children experience an increase in families needing assistance.  Diane Fisher, Case Manager for the shelter said, “We are reaching capacity quickly. As of today, we have five families in our shelter.  We have also had several crisis calls which indicate we are going to reach capacity quickly.”

With the amount of people they have currently in the shelter and the potential for more families to come, comes the need for many perishable items like milk, bread, meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese and eggs.

The Heminger House is also in need of cleaning supplies and office supplies like stamps, packing tape and printer paper.

Another easy way to help is providing gift cards that can be used in helping to fill new resident’s prescriptions. Wal-Mart, K Mart, Martins and Kroger gift cards are very helpful.

Diane Fisher wanted to express thanks to the community for all of their continued support over the last several years.  She said, “With this support we are able to provide a clean, stable and nutritional environment for our little ones and their mothers as they move toward a health, independent lifestyle.”
