04/11/13 The Marshall County Church Orchestra under the direction of Don Harness has been in rehearsals since mid-January.  They are gearing-up for their 2013 summer season.  They once again will be performing at the Plymouth Farmer’s Market, the Marshall County 4-H Fair and Miller’s Senior Living Community during their annual National Assisted Living Week.  The orchestra’s small group will also perform at various private parties and facilities in Northern Indiana.

The orchestra is looking forward to several big events.  The first will take place Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Life Center in Argos behind the United Methodist Church.  Titled “Celebrate the Season’s” the orchestra will provide the music while the LifePlex Dance Academy will portray the action for the songs through dance and live scenes.  The concert will take the audience through each month of the calendar year with a song symbolizing the month.  While there is no ticket price for this concert that is open to the public and free-will donation will be accepted.  Refreshments will be served during the concert.

The second event the orchestra is preparing is the annual Concert and Dessert which is held at Christos’ Banquet Center each year.  The LifePlex Dance Academy will once again join with the orchestra to present portions of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”.   November 14th and 15th are the dates for Concert & Dessert.  Tickets will go on sale in October for this event.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. The cost of music, travel expenses and other musical necessities can become quite costly.  The orchestra finds it necessary to hold a fund raiser to help offset expenses.  This year the finance committee has decided to have a Homemade Buckeye Sale.  Orchestra members will join together for a work day and make homemade chocolate/peanut butter buckeyes.  They will be selling the buckeyes for $5.00 per pound.  There are approximately 14 nice sized buckeyes per pound.

The Homemade Buckeyes may be pre-ordered before April 20th from orchestra members Annette Ray (574) 220-8039 or Sharon Phillips (574) 952-4316) or Cindy Flagg (574) 952-3661.  After April 20th buckeyes may be purchases from any orchestra member.
