06/18/13 Marshall County Police Officer Jeff Sharp came upon a house fire Monday morning on Dixon Lake Trail.  He called it into the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center at 7:37 a.m.

Fire Chief Rod Miller said the front part of the house at 14701 Dixon Lake Trail was fully engulfed when he arrived on the scene.  He immediately called for assistance from Argos and Culver Fire Departments to proved tankers to battle the blaze.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the front of the home.  The living room, two bedrooms and the front porch sustained major fire damage while the rest of the home had lots of smoke and heat damage.

The chief said his firefighters were able to bring the fire under control with minimal water usage.

The home is listed on the County’s GIS as being owned by Shannon and Alana McFarland.  The parents were and work and the children were not at home at the time of the fire.

Plymouth Fire Investigator John Pasley is investigating the fire and at this time the cause is undetermined.

As a side note, as firefighters were arriving on the scene to battle the blaze a high speed pursuit was happening at the same time.  The suspect came barreling through the fire scene and narrowly missed hitting a firefighter getting off one of the fire trucks.
