01/29/13  On Wednesday, January 23rd at approximately 1:50 PM ,Trooper Jason Faulstich with the Indiana State Police conducted a welfare check on a residence located at 105 West 1st Road just north of LaPaz in reference to possible manufacturing of methamphetamine activity.  Arriving at the location consent was given to search the residence by the home owner.  His search uncovered evidence that a family member who was staying at the home had methamphetamine along with items associated with the manufacturing of meth inside the home.

The suspect was identified as 48 year old, Benjamin Rice of Lakeville.  Rice was arrested for manufacturing of methamphetamine as a class B felony, possession of meth, possession of precursors, controlled substance dumping and weapon or instrument of violence-possess a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Mr. Rice was transported to the Marshall County Jail and where he was held without bond.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team responded to the scene and removed the Meth Lab Items.
