04/23/13 Monday morning Sherry Martin, Festival Coordinator for the Marshall County Blueberry Festival stopped by the WTCA Studios to announce a new, huge event for the festival.  A concert on Friday night has been added to the already extensive list of events.  For months a special committee has been taking care of all the details under lock and key.  Part of the contract was to make sure the name of the performer didn’t get out until Monday.   On Monday Martin was finally able to release the name of the star that will perform at this year’s festival.

Country music sensation, Jake Owen will perform on Friday evening August 30th a 9 p.m. with gates opening at 7:30 p.m.  This concert will be held on the grassy field where the fireworks display takes place.  Fans can choose from the pit, where concert goers will be right up front in a standing area only or general admission where fans can bring in a lawn chair and enjoy the concert.  It has been noted that no blankets or coolers will be allowed at the concert.  Tickets are $40 for the pit and $30 for general admission.

Although the announcement was made Monday morning, tickets will not go on sale until this Saturday morning.  You can visit the Blueberry Festival website at www.blueberryfestival.org beginning Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to order your tickets.  There is a $2.00 carrying fee to cover the cost of mailing.  Beginning Monday morning April 29th tickets will be available in the Blueberry Festival office at 233 East Jefferson Street where they will only accept cash or credit cards.
