02/07/13 Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin recently released the January Departmental Activity report. Each month he lists the top 10 offenses that people are booked into the Marshall County Jail. The number 10 reason why people were lodged in the county jail was for Court Ordered Hearings, #9 Operator Never Licensed, #8 Cocaine and or Meth, #7 Possession of a Controlled Substance, #6 Probation Violation, #5 Theft, #4 Driving While Suspended, #3 Marijuana, #2 and Failure to Appear. The number one reason why people were booked into the County Jail was Operating While Intoxicated.
In January, officers from around the county arrested a total of 185 people. Argos officers booked 1 male and 1 female into the jail. Bourbon officers arrest 2 males and 3 females while Bremen arrested 7 males and Culver police got 1 male. Indiana State Police Troopers arrested 11 guys and 7 girls and Plymouth Police had 27 males arrested and 12 females. Officers with the Sheriff’s Department arrested 67 males and 28 females.
County Police officers investigated 65 accidents, 8 involved personal injuries and 57 were property damage only. They also took 116 case reports. The Sheriff’s Department received 624 civil process papers and served 565 civil papers.
