06/10/13 The Plymouth Chapter of Kiwanis were able to raise over $4,800 in donations this past weekend during their annual Peanut Days fundraiser.

41 members of the local civic organization were out in force at the intersection of Jefferson and Michigan last weekend asking for donations from drivers in exchange for a bag of peanuts.  Kiwanians were also at the entrance of Kroger’s and Wal-Mart.

Peanut Committee Chairman Tom Sibal said “Peanut Days is the second largest fundraiser we do to raise money for area children’s programs and scholarships.  I am always in awe at how generous the people of Marshall County are when we ask for their help. We received a number of large bills this year, including several $20.00 bills.”

Funds raised from this event stay entirely local and provide money for Kiwanis to award scholarships to Plymouth and Argos High School students as well as a variety of other charitable causes such as the local Boys and Girls Club.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and once community at a time. The Plymouth Kiwanis meet each Tuesday at noon at Christo’s Banquet Center in Plymouth and interested new members are always welcome. For more information contact Tom Sibal at 935-8442.
