Sophomore Hunter Stevens had another impressive game for the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims who defeated Laporte 51-40 Tuesday night. Stevens nailed down 27 points and nabbed 7 rebounds, shot 80% from the floor (8/10), and was 91% from the line (11/12).
“We are starting to see her potential. Teams now will have to start taking her more seriously when game-planning against us. Which helps us, because we have several other threats you have to take into account. So her performance tonight was pretty important for several reasons.”, said Coach Dave Duncan.
Stevens also added three assists against Laporte.
“Which is a part of her game that has improved. When the game comes to her, the basketball skill gets better with every possession. We love her aggressiveness. And Hunter has been a very coachable kid. There are times we have to slow her down. But recently, she’s been playing well in all aspects of her game. Now the question is….how long can she keep this going?”, added Duncan.
Senior Amber Redinger punched in 15 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
“Amber looks and is playing “focused” basketball right now. She’s being aggressive and getting better at being stronger with the ball.”, said Duncan. “But one other player tonight I thought played well, not so much on the offensive side of the ball but just played well defensively is Senior Lauren Tanner. She is doing a lot of good things away from the ball. Now, still want her to shoot the ball as much as she can, but right now….she’s playing hard “away from” and “on” the ball.”
Lady Pilgrims now 11-4, currently 12th in Class 3A in the state, will play at home Saturday afternoon vs Concord. WTCA Pre-Game Show will air around 1PM. Game will be aired on AM1050; am1050.com; 97.1FM inside the gym.
