05/20/13 Jessica Oliver and Jennifer Houin, co-founders of the Ounce of Prevention Breast Cancer Fund were joined with recipient Kaitlyn Lenne at the 2013 PHS Awards celebration Friday morning.
In 2003, the Oliver Family began the crusade against breast cancer. Through generous community support they have been able to provide awareness, community outreach and monies to Marshall County entities such as the Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship, Plymouth Health Careers class, Marshall County Cancer Association, St. Joseph Health Center, Cancer Institute and radiology department at SJRMC, Hello Gorgeous as well as creating the Ounce of Prevention $1,000 four-year renewable Scholarship.
Now in the second year of recognizing a young adult that has been touched by breast cancer or has touched breast cancer through volunteer service, they are proud to have chosen Kaitlyn Lenne. Kaitlyn knows firsthand the impact breast cancer has when it hits close to home.
Congratulations to Kaitlyn and her parents for showing her that breast cancer may have changed her life but it made an impact rather than affecting it.
