The Lincoln 8th Grade Red Storm began their run to the conference championship last Thursday night when they visited Warsaw Lakeview for a quarter final match-up.  The game featured a terse defensive battle with Lincoln and Lakeview changing leads multiple time.  Lincoln quickly took control after the half and extended their lead to the 33-23 final.  Lincoln’s defense was again the story of the game as they forced 18 turnovers on the night.  Jake young led the scoring with 9 points.  Nick Felke and David Bacon added 6 for the winning team.

The 8th Grade then traveled Saturday to Crestview Middle School of Huntington for the semi-finals and finals of the tournament.  In the semi-finals the Red Storm came on out fire on both ends of the floor and did not let up in the first half leading 16-6 after the first quarter and 31-12 at the half.  The team balanced scoring duties with Ryan Carmichael, John Gerard, Nick Felke, and Jake Young all scoring 9 points in the victory.  The final of 43-22 was bolstered by an 8 point outburst from Crestview’s best player in the 4th quarter after the game was already decided.
The championship game was contested versus Riverside Middle School of Huntington.  The Red Storm were down big early, facing a 12-5 deficit at the end of 1 quarter.  They stiffened defensively, only allowing Huntington 3 points the rest of the half.  Lincoln led at the half 16-15 on a buzzer beating tip in by Jake Young.  The second half was more of the same strong defense shown all year by the Future Pilgrims. They held Riverview to only 12 points in the second half while scoring 21 of their own.  Nick Felke led all scorers with 14 points.  He was bolstered with 7 points from John Gerard.  The Red Storm finish with a record of 22-1 and repeat as undefeated conference champions.

Congrats to the Red Storm on a fantastic season.
