Saturday the Lincoln Jr. High Wrestling Team ended their season with an exclamation point by winning the NELMSC Conference Tourney.  Lincoln placed 11 out of 20 wrestlers in the finals of the tournament and 5 of those wrestlers walked away as individual champions : Zane Devault at 95 lbs (repeat champion), Micah Calhoun at 105 lbs, Jesus Rubella at 140lbs (repeat champion), Tristen Mcmillen at 145lbs, Colton Schuler at 155 lbs, and Dylan Manual at 175 lbs. 18 of Lincolns 20 entries finished in 4th place or higher.

 

As a team, Lincoln out distanced the 2nd place tigers of Edgewood middle school (Warsaw) by 37 points and 3rd place Wawasee by 117.5 points.  “As a coach its always fun to watch kids improve as the season progresses.  In December we didn’t know how we would stack up this year, but the kids worked hard and got the job done,” said coach Phil Koops.  Lincoln ends their season with a duel meet record of 16 wins and 3 losses.
