04/08/13 The Marshall County Coroner and the Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Marshall County Correctional Facility in Plymouth.

44 Year old Kerry A. Pinder of Culver died suddenly Sunday morning about 10:50 while awaiting release from the Marshall County Correctional Facility in Plymouth.  Pinder was arrested Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger says that neither violence nor foul play is suspected. An autopsy by Dr. Joseph Prahlow, a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist, is expected to be conducted tomorrow in Mishawaka.  Pinder had been an inmate at the facility since early Saturday morning after being arrested by Plymouth Police for Operating While Intoxicated.

The Coroner’s office was notified at 10:44 this morning by the Marshall County Police Department as were detectives and crime scene technicians of the Indiana State Police.

Both agencies worked throughout the day on various aspects of the incident with the cooperation of Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin, Captain Dan Butt and Detective Lt. Duane Culp.

Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger said that hopefully more information will be obtained from the autopsy Monday relating to the cause of death.  In cases of the death of a person in custody, the Indiana State Police and the Coroner are the lead investigators.

The Coroner’s office will not be releasing any further information until after the autopsy.

 Pinder’s family and relatives have been notified.
