09/25/13 The 1st Annual Marshall County Blazin’ BBQ & Bluegrass cook off competition was held this past weekend in beautiful Centennial Park in Plymouth.  Twenty-seven competitors entered from as far away as Wisconsin to compete in the Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event.  Teams competed in four categories; chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork.  This two day event had musical entertainment from Autumn Leed & the Dirty Earth Band and the bluegrass band Echo Valley. 

Awards were given to the top five competitors in each meat category and the top ten competitors overall, with

  The BBQ Superstore from Rockford Michigan winning Grand Champion and

  Steel Smokin’ from Butler Indiana winning Reserve Champion.  Our local team, Yellow River BBQ took eighth in the overall standings and won third place in ribs and fourth place in Pork.
