10/31/13 The Marshall County Community Foundation (MCCF) announced this week the launch of,  Making a Difference, a special giving event to support nonprofits. From now until December 31, 2013, contributions made to designated funds (those that support specific organizations) will receive a 10% match. “Nonprofits are making a difference every day in Marshall County to improve the quality of life in our communities” said Linda Yoder, MCCF Executive Director. “We’re celebrating the good work of these organizations and all who are involved with them – people who love our community, believe in its future, and want to be part of making it even better.”

The Making a Difference event is an opportunity for nonprofit organizations and donors to learn more about the new fund options available at MCCF to support charitable work. Greater flexibility is now available to meet both long term and shorter term needs.  Yoder noted that permanent funds at the Community Foundation provide a great opportunity for donors that want to see their giving continue to have impact for generations to come. The goal with this type of fund is to create more sustainable ways for local organizations to receive funding each year and ensure greater returns on the investment in the future. A new “high impact” permanent fund provides an increased annual distribution if desired. Also new, is a “flexible” nonpermanent fund option which is structured and invested for mid to long term projects and may be well suited for building projects or capital improvements.

Combined, the new fund options and the Making a Difference Special Giving Event gives nonprofits an unparalleled chance to build a fund or start a new one and share their stories.

On Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 10am-8pm MCCF will host an open house at the Community Resource Center (501 W Adams Street, Plymouth) featuring nonprofits and sharing stories of giving from both donors and recipients. The public is invited to attend to learn more about how nonprofits and the generous donors who support them are changing our community for good.

Anyone who wants to learn more about the Foundation, new donor options, or the specifics of the Making a Difference program are encouraged to call the Marshall County Community Foundation at 574.935.5159.
