It’s Pack-A-Backpack Time

July 18, 2013

07/19/13  In just a few short weeks school will be starting and the kids all want to be ready for another awesome year, yet some children won’t be because their families can’t afford school supplies.

By donating to the 11th Annual Pack-A-Back Pack that is in full swing, you can help a child return to school with a smile on their face.  As in the past, Plymouth FOP 195 and the Bremen Indiana State Police Post have joined forces to collect school supplies and backpacks for students in the schools within the county.

While you’re out shopping please consider picking up a few extra items like backpacks, scissors, glue, notebooks, folders, pens and pencils, crayons, markers and colored pencils.  You can drop off supplies here at the WTCA Radio Station, Martin’s Supermarket, the Plymouth Bellmart BP, Oliver Ford, Fernbaugh’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, Opie’s Deli, the Moose Lodge, and the Dollar General stores on Kingston Road and in the  Kroger Plaza.

This year members of the Pack-A-Backpack committee will be collecting school supplies at Wal-Mart on Friday, August 2nd from 5 PM to 8 PM and then again on Saturday, August 3rd from 10 AM to 6 PM.

This year the goal is to distribute between 600 and 700 backpacks throughout the schools in Marshall County including Argos, Bourbon, Bremen, Culver, LaVille and Plymouth.

Hurshel Hunter, President of Plymouth FOP 195 said, “It is only because of the generosity of our communities that we are able to help as many children as we have.”  He continued, “It’s wonderful to know that some many children will be ready to go back to school ready to learn with the supplies provided by the drive.”
