01/10/13 Sarah Smith appeared before the Plymouth Park Board Monday evening to discuss the Hunter Tennis Complex.  A committee has been working for about a year on improving the current facility.

Smith said they continue to seeking funding for the new courts but need a determination of where they might be located to be able to determine construction costs.

Three sites were considered, the current location but it was discovered that the site is in the new floodway.  The park would not be able to remove and rebuild new tennis courts because the new construction would not be permissible in the flood plain.

The second site considered was the basketball court are located just south of Plymouth Goshen Trail.  This site is a bit restrictive in size and would require removal of the chicken coop storage facility.

The final location and one selected by the park board and tennis committee is directly to the north of the current tennis courts.

This site is used by the Hoosier Old Wheels Car Club during the Blueberry Festival for their annual car show.  A special meeting was held to discuss the location with the club.  Superintendent Mike Hite said there was a bit of tension but when it was discussed that the current location would be turned into green space the club said they could rearrange their set-up and make it work.
